General FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I am wanting to spay my puppy, what is the recovery time for this procedure?

A:  The recovery time for spay and neuter surgery is the same for both dogs and cats.  Within 24 hours after surgery your pet will have recovered from anesthesia. We  recommend that you keep your pet quiet for 24 to 48 hours after surgery. The incision    site should show signs of healing within 3 to 5 days. (If you observe any redness, inflammation, or discharge from the incision site, please contact us.) Please refrain your pet from vigorous activity for 5 days. Total recovery time is 7 to 10 days.

Q: I am wanting to have my cat declawed, what is the recovery time for this procedure?

A: Complete recovery time for declaw surgery is 10 to 14 days. Please NO litter. There is an alternative called "Yesterday's News" which is made with recycled newspaper. You can purchase this at Petco, Petsmart, WalMart, Target, Pet Supermarket and K-Mart

Q: How often should I have my pet's bloodwork checked.

A: "Routine" bloodwork is recommended yearly for ages 1 - 6 years depending on species and or breed. For all senior pets we recommend every six months.

Bloodwork may also be recommended in order to check and evaluate different situations that may be occuring internally.
